AKA Urges Pretoria High School Parents To Support Their Children
In the wake of
Pretoria High School racism protests, rapper AKA has urged parents of the
pupils on Twitter to go and support their children since they are the ones
paying fees.
“Man, if I was
a parent and saw these videos of "security" threatening to arrest my
daughter I'd be at that school f%^$king sh!t up right now,” the “One Time”
rapper tweeted.
AKA who is a
father of one daughter wondered how someone can ban African girls from
attending school with African hair in an African country.
Pretoria High
School came into the news after reports emerged that the black students were
forced to straighten their hair and not allowed to grow natural hair.
#StopRascismAtPretoriaGirlsHigh
hashtag has been trending on Twitter and an online petition against the school
policy calling rights of black and Muslim girls has gathered other 15,000 signatures.
Pretoria High School an all-girls school
was founded in 1902 for students of both races but was attended by white
students during the apartheid era. The school later opened to all races again
after 1994.

The white girls, Indian, Coloureds ... I assume they wear their natural hair at that school with no issues. So what's the fuss???— AKA (@akaworldwide) August 29, 2016
How can you ban an African girl from having African hair going to school in an African country. How does this make sense? 🤔— AKA (@akaworldwide) August 29, 2016
I don't understand. How can someone's natural hair be an issue? .... What can girls possibly do to change how their hair grows. Ridiculous.— AKA (@akaworldwide) August 29, 2016
