Moozlie Talks About Her Label, New Single “Recipe” And Working with producer Wichi 1080
After releasing
her first single “Recipe” through her own record label rapper and TV show host Nomuzi
Mabena as known as Moozlie visited ClifCentral on Wednesday (August 10) for an interview
with DJ Capital to talk about her new imprint.
“Yeah Nomuzi
Mabena Music is my brand new record label super excited about it, she says. “After
the going independent thing I tried to look for management that could look
after the whole entire brand. But then there were people that could only
specialize in TV and then there were people who could only specialize in music
and then there people who could special in both but then was like I am not
really sure that I can trust you with my shit. So then I just decided why not
lock myself and just do the damn thing for myself.”
The former CashTime
Life artist also talked about the challenges that she was facing in life that
inspired her a lot on making her new single “Recipe”.
“I kinda went
through a phase; where not necessarily that I was letting the hate get to me,”
she says. “But I think was just not really focusing on the right energy in my
life. So I just needed to snap out of it, write about and let it go.”
Moozlie also
talked about how Grammy award winning producer Brian Soko was instrumental in
hooking her up producer Whichi 1080 while she was shopping for beats.
“I was really
shopping for a ‘Bitch Better Have My Money,’” talking about the type of
direction she wanted for “Recipe”. I needed a song to give me that feeling of ‘Yo….
don’t come at me like that’. As soon as I said that; Soko was like ‘Yo I was
there a year ago and Wichi played me this crazy beat I think it might work for
you’ he sent it to me, I hooked up with Wichi and we made it happen.”
