“I Am No Longer Part of Provoke Music” - Wangechi


Kenya female rapper Wangechi Waweru has part ways with her long time label Provoke Music to a new label Nuke Recordings according to an official statement released on the rapper’s Instagram account yesterday (July 4).

“I am no longer part of Provoke Music and will be releasing and distributing music under Nuke Recordings,” the rapper wrote in the statement.

The 22 year old rapper also said in the statement that “Ceilings” is her first major project that is going to be released under her new label.

“Ceilings is gonna be my first major project out under Nuke recordings. Toast to new paths 🍻 ‪#‎ceilings‬ ‪#‎nukerecordings‬,” Wangechi further wrote in the statement.

Wangechi was introduced to the limelight after appearing in the remix to Kaka Sungura’s hit single “Ligi Soo”. She was later signed under producer Kevin Provoke’s label Provoke Music were she released her debut studio album “Art 19” in the early 2014.

On 14 September, 2014 the Nairobi native suffered a near fatal road accident with her two friends that claimed the life of her best friend Tionna. She was admitted in ICU with serious injuries and recovered after a couple of months.

In 2015, the “Cardiac Arrest” rapper was part of the third season of Coke Studio Africa where she managed to feature on a song with American R&B singer, Ne-Yo that was featured on Coke Studio Album.
