Emtee’s Album “Avery” Certified Platinum


South African rapper Emtee born Mthembeni Ndevu’s debut album “Avery” has been certified platinum.

The rapper took to twitter on Saturday (July 9) to share a picture the plaque.

“PRAYER. RESPEK. FAITH. HARD WORK. LOVE. ART. PASSION,” the rapper captioned the picture.

According to the Recording Industry of South Africa (RISA) an album must have shipped over 40,000 units to be certified Platinum.

Emtee’s debut album “Avery” which was named after his son was released in December 4, 2015. The album span the hit single Roll up whose remix features AKA and Nigerian singer Wizkid.

In 2015, the 23 year old rapper won Song of The Year with “Roll Up” at the South African Hip Hop Awards and won four awards at the Metro FM Music Awards in the following categories; Best Music Video, Best Remix, Best Hip Hop Album and the Listeners Choice Award.

In 2016, Emtee won Best Rap Album and Amstel Record of the Year at the 22nd South African Music Awards.

He was also nominated for the 2016 BET Awards Viewers’ Choice: Best New International Act which was won be by Nigeria’s Falz.
